Ontra's Salesforce integration uses the Ontra API to maintain synchronized data between the two systems.
- The Salesforce integration is available for all products.
- As of October 2025, the Salesforce integration is available for Insight for Funds and Atlas only. You can update existing records in Ontra.
- You must be an Ontra Admin user to set up the integration.
Pre-Integration Requirements
Before integrating, users must provide their specific Salesforce Record IDs to the Ontra team. The Ontra team maps Salesforce Record IDs to Ontra IDs to ensure data points sync accurately between the two systems.
- In Salesforce, export a CSV report that includes all key fields and the 15-character Record IDs for LPs and funds, including:
- Common Investor Name
- LP investment vehicle/LP Legal entity name
- LP investment vehicle Unique ID
- Fund Name
- Fund Record ID
Integrating SFDC with Insight for Funds or Atlas
- From Ontra, navigate to Integrations from the left sidebar.
- Locate the Salesforce integration card, click Connect. From the pop-up, click Connect again.
- You will be prompted to log in and authorize the connection to your Salesforce account.
If you are using Ontra's Sandbox, you will have the option to test the data mapping against either your production or a sandbox Salesforce instance.
- Once connected, users can configure the integration by selecting which Salesforce objects they want to map to corresponding Ontra data fields. Users can select data to sync using the following Ontra API endpoints:
- Entities: For entity information that is part of an organization, such as a fund
- External Entities: For entity information that is outside of your organization, such as an institutional investor or external person)
- Ownerships: For relationships between entities
- Data fields in Ontra refresh in real-time when there is an update with the mapped Salesforce fields. At this time, the integration cannot create net-new records in Ontra.
