Group together obligations that are similar or identical to streamline your workflow while still retaining the detail of each underlying obligation by using SmartGroups. A SmartGroup, as opposed to a standalone obligation, is indicated by bold text in the Obligations dashboard.
Select the > arrow to the left of the SmartGroup label to expand the obligations tied to the SmartGroup.
Select again to collapse the individual obligations back under the SmartGroup.
The obligation dashboard provides a summary row for each SmartGroup, detailing the name, number of obligations within each SmartGroup, and the categories and parties assigned to obligations within the SmartGroup.
Creating a SmartGroup
Create SmartGroups either when creating new obligations, or from existing obligations via the obligations dashboard.

To create a SmartGroup from existing obligations:
- Navigate to the obligations dashboard.

Select the checkboxes for each obligations you would like to group together.

Select the Bulk Actions drop-down and then select Add to Group.

Select a name for the SmartGroup, add an optional description, and then select Add.

To overwrite the name of all the obligations in a group to the name of the group, select the Apply name change to all obligations in the group checkbox. All other fields (e.g. categories, description, parties) will remain unchanged after they are grouped. |
The obligation dashboard will refresh and the new SmartGroup will appear on the dashboard.
Editing a SmartGroup's name and description
To edit a SmartGroup's name and/or description:
- Select the kebab button to the right of the obligation group and select Edit

Enter a new name and/or description and select Save.
The obligations dashboard will refresh and the new name and/or description will appear.
Ungrouping obligations
To remove a subset of obligations from a SmartGroup or to remove all obligations from a SmartGroup:

Expand the SmartGroup and select the obligation(s) that you would like to remove from the SmartGroup
- Select the Bulk Actions drop-down and then select Ungroup.

Select Remove to confirm the removal action.
The obligations dashboard will refresh and the selected obligation(s) will be separated from the SmartGroup.
